I injured my hip at the Vienna ATP 250 last year and decided to call it a day on the 2016 season. Despite being 'away' from the tour this is how I spent my time.

4th to 18th November - two week break in South Africa with my family and friends, visiting Cape Town,Stellenbosch, Durban and the Drakensberg. This was complete down-time and I didn't pick-up a racquet for two full weeks.

19th to 20th November - two days of easing into gym work before the storm.

21st to 5th December - two weeks of really physical gym and court work. Ryan and Prangers destroying me by the end of week two.

6th to 23rd December - three weeks in Miami training with Andy. Brutal regime, lots of banter and Miami sunshine at least.

24th to 26th - At home in Yorkshire for Christmas with my family. Not sure I knew what day it was!

26th to 28th - Flying from London to Bribane

At this point I had gone from 5 hrs behing GMT on 23rd to 10 hrs ahead of GMT and my body clock was completely confused. I really struggled during the first two days in Brisbane.

29th to 31st December - getting ready for Brisbane 250.

So we have an 'off season'' but for most players it's tough as nails. Looking forward to a great 2017. See out out there somewhere.
